Walcon Marine Australasia recently completed the design and construction of a new floating marina upgrade for the City of Whyalla.
The scope of work included demolition and removal of the old marine structure at Whyalla Marina, and then design and construction of a new heavy-duty floating system which utilised the existing piles.
FRP Micro Mesh was used for the decking surface, providing the council with a low maintenance and cost effective solution. Due to the non-corrosive properties of FRP, it has an expected lifespan of 50+ years.
Rolec service pedestals were also used on this project, providing pen holders with power and water.
Whyalla is located approximately 400km north-west of Adelaide and has a small population of around 20,000 people. Walcon utilised local subcontractors to promote economical growth in the region.
A great project for Walcon to have been involved in, leaving the City of Whyalla and its pen holders extremely happy.
