UTS Rowing Club Rowing Pontoons – Haberfield, NSW
Walcon had the great pleasure of working on this project and completed the design, construction and Installation of the rowing pontoon and gangway for UTS Rowing club successfully in April 2014.
The structure of the 24.00m x 6.00m pontoon is of modern engineering design comprising two (2) connected welded aluminium braced frames (each 12.00m x 6.00m) using marine grade aluminium (6082T6). The pontoon connections are made using M20 grade 316 stainless steel bolts complete with washers, castle nuts, split pins and compressible rubber bushes. All connections are noiseless. The structure of the gangway/ramp is of modern engineering design comprising welded aluminium braced frames using marine grade aluminium (6082T6). Dura Composites’ Marina Deck, an extremely tough, durable polymer fibre-glass decking with a life span of over 50 years was used for the decking on this project.
It has been designed to withstand the rigors of marine environments and comes with a manufacturer’s warranty of 25 years.
The redeveloped UTS Rowing Club facility will house a state of the art rowing club and a community focused licensed club. The downstairs rowing shed will include decking, pontoon, change rooms, office and dry training area. This elite level rowing club will ensure students and members have access to a world class rowing facility on the waters of Haberfield. It will be recognised as one of the finest rowing facilities in Australia.
